El termino anglosaj\u00f3n Aging in place<\/em>, trasladado al castellano es entendido como \u201cenvejecer en tu lugar\u201d, dicho termino se ha trabajado en materia de pol\u00edticas e investigaciones de envejecimiento, por lo que, varios autores lo han conceptualizado. Dicho contructo se origin\u00f3 en la d\u00e9cada de los ochentas, en Estados Unidos, aunque se argumenta que no se trabaj\u00f3 o bien se vio reflejado en la literatura y\/o investigaciones hasta d\u00e9cadas posteriores, cabe mencionar en la d\u00e9cada de los noventas es donde podemos apreciar el termino en la literatura hispana (Lee, 2008, citado en L\u00f3pez -N\u00f3rez, 2017).<\/p>\n

Por lo anterior, se hace referencia general que el envejecer en tu lugar, es aquella capacidad y preferencia de vivir en tu hogar y comunidad durante el proceso de envejecimiento y la etapa de la vejez de una manera segura, c\u00f3moda e independiente (Wiles, Leibing, Guberman, Reeve y Allen, 2012). Tambi\u00e9n se conceptualiza “la vida restante en la comunidad, con cierto nivel de independencia, en lugar de atenci\u00f3n residencial” (Davey, Nana, de Joux y Arcus, 2004, p. 133).
\nAunque, no solo se habla del termino en materia de independencia, seg\u00fan Vasara (2015):<\/p>\n

\u201cel envejecimiento en el lugar se interpreta como el derecho de una Persona Mayor a continuar viviendo en su hogar y\/o comunidad, para recibir servicios de atenci\u00f3n adecuados all\u00ed, para mientras sea posible\u201d (p.55).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Por otra parte, la mayor\u00eda de las investigaciones comprueba algo que anteriormente se hab\u00eda planteado sobre los beneficios que pueden generarle a la persona mayor el envejecer en su lugar de residencia ya que algo que tambi\u00e9n propuesto son los m\u00faltiples v\u00ednculos que ah\u00ed ya generaron y que al momento de retirar, confunde y conflict\u00faa de manera importante al mayor.
\nPor otro lado, se plantean las complicaciones que pueden producir el envejecer en el lugar, ya que la mayor\u00eda de las casas habitadas por mayores, no presentan las adaptaciones necesarias para que la persona envejezca en total plenitud<\/strong> y a\u00fan m\u00e1s en M\u00e9xico que presenta un esparcimiento impresionante que no permite cubrir las necesidades b\u00e1sicas de los mayores y el quiz\u00e1 asistir a una consulta m\u00e9dica o simplemente a hacer las compras al supermercado se torna muy complicado desde la posible transportaci\u00f3n de ida como de vuelta, hasta lidiar con problem\u00e1ticas sociales a\u00fan m\u00e1s complejas, quiz\u00e1 para algunos el vivir el resto de la vida o proceso de envejecimiento en el lugar, no sea lo m\u00e1s beneficioso, o lo que la persona desea.<\/p>\n

Las dem\u00e1s investigaciones, cada una en su particularidad destacaban la importancia de seguir investigando en el \u00e1rea socio espacial de personas mayores ya que los documentos son muy escasos y la mayor\u00eda de los estudios anteriores, con el tipo de muestra que tomaron, es muy poca la posibilidad de obtener generalidades o conclusiones que beneficien a m\u00e1s de uno.<\/p>\n
